After being in Beijing for a week, everyone was introduced to a host family. We were able to spend the whole weekend at our Host Family's home. During this weekend, our host families taught us to make dumplings, toured us around the neighborhood, and allowed us to experience what a normal weekend feels like in a typical family in Beijing. This is my host family, the Lu Family.
Here we are at visiting Temple of Heaven. The architecture is amazing, and we were able to study the different structures and their meaning.
Here is one of the cultural activities we had. Every day we had a different lesson on either tradition or culture of China. Picture here, we learned about Beijing Opera and were able to paint our own mask.
We explored Beijing mostly by subway with our language partners on the weekends. By the second week, we were confident enough to use the subway on our own!
The program hired a tour guide and a small charter bus to bring us to places where we were unable to travel to by subway. This was our fantastic day at 长城.
